About this course
Every organisation has a values statement. It is usually framed in reception, printed on the back of ID cards and read out at the staff durbar. Then, on a normal Tuesday, someone signs an attendance sheet for a colleague who never came, a junior officer keeps quiet about a mistake because the last person who spoke up was shouted down, and a new staff member is told 'forget what HR said, this is how we do it here'. That gap between what is written and what is done is your real culture.
This course is for all staff, in companies and in public service: frontline officers, supervisors, managers and new starters. It explains in plain language what culture is, how it shows up in daily habits, meetings, rituals and decisions, and why values matter for trust, performance and reputation. You will learn a simple five-question values test for decisions, what psychological safety means in a Ghanaian workplace where respect for seniority runs deep, and how to speak up, show respect and include colleagues without making a scene.
The course is built around situations you will recognise: a per diem sheet at a workshop in Ho, a supervisor's joke in a Monday meeting, a new graduate learning shortcuts from an old hand. You will make decisions in branching stories, practise the words to use, and finish with a personal plan.
The examples are deliberately general so that any organisation can use this course. Keep your own organisation's values statement and code of conduct beside you as you study, and hold every lesson up against them.
