About this course
Most managers in Ghana got the job because they were good at the work. Nobody trained them for the hard part: the officer who comes late every Monday, the top salesperson who insults colleagues, the team that quietly resists every new system. This course is for new and mid-level managers and supervisors in private companies who want practical methods they can use on Monday morning.
We start with the shift from doing the work yourself to getting it done through others, and you will find out your default leadership style and when to change it. You will then learn to set expectations and SMART goals, and to delegate using a simple ladder that tells your staff exactly how much authority they have.
The middle of the course deals with people. What really motivates staff in a Ghanaian workplace, and where Maslow and Herzberg help or mislead. How to run a coaching conversation with the GROW model. How to give and receive feedback with the SBI model, and how to make appraisals mean something. We then cover underperformance and discipline, including the basics of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) and how to keep records that will stand up if a case is challenged, followed by conflict.
The final module covers building a high-performing team, leading hybrid and diverse teams, managing your own boss, and spotting burnout before it costs you good people.
Every module uses Ghanaian workplaces, names and cedi amounts, with three branching scenarios, a leadership style profile, templates and sample wording. You finish with a 90-day people management plan you can download and use straight away.
