About this course

Most harassment at work is not dramatic. It is the supervisor who keeps 'checking in' on a junior officer's WhatsApp at midnight, the nickname everyone laughs at except the person it is aimed at, the promotion that seems to depend on accepting a lift home. Most people see it. Few know what to do about it.

This course is for all staff and supervisors in companies and public institutions across Ghana. It explains, in plain language, what a respectful workplace looks like and where the line is: sexual harassment as the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651) defines it, bullying, discriminatory harassment and harassment by phone and social media. It is just as clear about what harassment is not, so that fair performance management is not confused with abuse.

You will work through realistic Ghanaian situations: a staff end-of-year party, a district office with a powerful director, a bank branch group chat, a complaint that lands on a new manager's desk on a Friday afternoon. You will practise the 5 Ds of bystander intervention, learn how to record and report what happens to you, and, if you supervise people, learn exactly how to receive a complaint without making things worse.

You walk away with a personal action plan, sample wording you can use in the moment, a simple incident record template and a manager's checklist for handling complaints with confidentiality and without retaliation. The course takes about four hours and ends with a final assessment. The pass mark is 80%.

The subject is sensitive. The course treats it with care, avoids graphic detail, and reminds you throughout where to find support.
