About this course

Most workplace injuries in Ghana do not come from dramatic disasters. They come from a wet floor at the loading bay, an extension cable under a rug, a driver who has been on the road since 4 am, or a ladder that 'was fine last time'. This course teaches every member of staff to see those things early and to act on them.

It is written for company staff and public servants alike: office workers in Accra, storekeepers in Kumasi, factory hands in Tema, health and education workers in district facilities, drivers, engineers and field officers. The situations are ones you will recognise, and the tools are simple enough to use on a normal working day.

You will learn what Ghanaian law expects of your employer and of you, including the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the Factories, Offices and Shops Act, 1970 (Act 328), the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1987 (PNDCL 187) and the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124). You will see briefly how ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 organise safety and environmental work. Then you will practise the skills that matter most: a five-step risk assessment, the hierarchy of controls, fire response and evacuation, basic first aid, choosing and caring for PPE, reporting near misses, using your stop-work authority, looking after your own health, and handling waste, energy, water and spills responsibly.

Along the way you will spot hazards in real-looking workplaces, make decisions in branching emergency stories, and finish with a personal HSE action plan you can download and share with your supervisor. The final assessment has a pass mark of 80%, which is normal for compliance training.
