About this course
Most people read their code of conduct once, on the day they sign the offer letter, and never open it again. Then one Tuesday a supplier sends a hamper, a relative asks for a favour, a manager asks you to 'adjust' a figure before the audit, or a colleague makes a joke that is not funny. That is when the code matters, and that is when most people are guessing.
This course is for all staff, in companies, NGOs and public institutions. It explains in plain language what a code of conduct is, why it applies to you whatever your grade, and what it expects on an ordinary working day. Public servants will also see how Chapter 24 of the 1992 Constitution, the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, sets the standard for conflicts of interest and asset declaration.
The course is built on situations you will recognise: a cousin's quotation on your desk, a fuel log that does not add up, a customer list copied to a personal phone, a side business run on office time. You practise the decision, see what happens next, and learn a five-question ethics test you can use in under a minute.
You will cover conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, confidentiality and the use of company and public assets, fair dealing, accurate records, outside employment, political activity, respect at work, and how to raise a concern. You will learn what protection the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720) gives you and what really happens when the code is breached.
You finish with a personal action plan and a final assessment. The pass mark is 80%, which is normal for compliance training.
