About this course
This course is for the public servants citizens actually meet: the receptionist at the district assembly, the revenue collector at the market, the officer at the passport application counter, the records clerk at the hospital, and the back-office staff whose letters, phone calls and WhatsApp replies shape what people think of government.
Most service training is written for banks and shops. Public service is different. The citizen often has no other place to go, the rules are set by law, and every counter carries the weight of public trust. This course starts from that reality. It shows you how to be warm and efficient while still following procedure, and how to say no without making an enemy.
You will work through real situations from Ghanaian offices: a crowded passport centre on a Monday morning, an angry relative at a hospital records desk, a contractor at a Municipal Assembly who wants his permit 'pushed' for a small token. You will practise listening and questioning, using plain English and local languages, handling complaints step by step, serving persons with disabilities and other vulnerable people with dignity, and writing letters, memos, emails and social media replies that the public can understand.
Every module gives you something to use the next working day: a greeting routine, a complaint-handling method, a queue plan, a letter template, a script for refusing a bribe politely, and a simple way to collect and act on citizen feedback. You finish with a personal service improvement plan and a certificate your supervisor can see.
No previous training is needed. If you serve the public in any role, this course is for you.
