About this course

Most cyber attacks on Ghanaian organisations do not start with a genius hacker breaking through a firewall. They start with an ordinary member of staff: a procurement officer who opens an 'invoice' attachment, a receptionist who gives out a colleague's number to a friendly caller, a driver who plugs a found USB drive into the office computer, an accounts clerk who reads out an OTP to 'the bank'. Attackers go after people because people are easier to fool than systems.

This course is for every member of staff in companies, ministries, departments, agencies and assemblies. You do not need any technical background. In plain language and with Ghanaian examples, it shows you how phishing emails, smishing texts and vishing calls work, including fake MoMo messages, fake bank calls and fake job offers. You will learn to build passphrases you can remember, switch on multi-factor authentication, browse and download safely, look after your phone, handle public Wi-Fi and USB drives, understand ransomware, keep your social media from helping criminals, and work safely from home.

Above all, you will learn what to do when something goes wrong: how to report quickly to your IT or security team, why the first hour matters, and where the Cyber Security Authority and the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) fit in.

The course is short and active. You will hunt for red flags in real-looking emails, answer rapid-fire 'scam or genuine?' rounds, and make decisions in two branching stories. You finish with a personal cyber hygiene plan you can put to work the same day.
